Encore!

After the success of the first Octarine Women Artists’ Collective show in 2014, we have decided to do it again!  Our next exhibition, titled Encore!, will take place May 1 – 10, 2015 at Studio 404 in Guelph, Ontario.

In keeping with the Encore! theme, the show will feature all new work by participating artists Deborah Dryden, Carol Hughes, Helen Hughes, Kim Johnston, Mary Karavos, Jean Loney, Leslie Miles and Gail Root.  In addition, this year’s exhibition will take place over ten days, offering visitors more chances to see where each artist’s creative journey has led them during the past year.

The variety of media in this year’s show will also be expanded, with the addition of the intricate paper collage works of Mary Karavos.  (Mary is replacing Susan Strachan Johnson, who is currently taking a medical leave from the group.)  Other works on display will include watercolours, fibre art, encaustic, mosaics, oils, and acrylics.

The opening reception for Encore!, with artists present, will take place Friday, May 1, 2015 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.  Show hours are Saturdays 10:00 – 5:00, Sundays 11:00 – 3:00, Monday to Friday 9:00 – 5:00.

NEW WORK FROM LESLIE MILES

Zen series, #3

Zen Series, #3

Leslie must have been doing a lot of yoga lately, because we know she doesn’t smoke! At our upcoming Eight Dimensions show, she will be taking a playful break from the pace of her plein air paintings. Her new “Zen” series features abstract paintings that both hint at meditation and mesmerize the viewer.

October Hail

October Hail

This lovely oil painting by Kim Johnston was selected from many works for this year’s Shirley Dilworth Jaychuk juried Show at Elora Art Centre. It didn’t win a prize but it was up against some pretty stiff competition! If you would like to see more of Kim’s work, come to Eight Dimensions, our inaugural show at Studio 404 in Guelph (at 404 York Road, between Victoria Road and Stevenson), over the weekend of May 2,3 and 4. The opening reception is from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Friday evening. See you there!
